H. Cooper Black 2010
After over a week of temperatures in the 90's , which is way too hot for April, we were happy
to see a cold front sweep across the east coast before loading up to head for H. Cooper Black.
On Saturday, six wagons and over 20 riders rode the sandy trails through the pines. All the
mules, both ridden and in harness, seemed excited to be out in the cooler weather. We made
a quick trip to our lunch destination at one of the many ponds in the area, and enjoyed a relaxing
time catching up with each other. The trip back towards camp seemed to split the group into
trail riders and wagon riders as the trail riders headed off on the narrower trails that ran parallel
to the roads. At least that is what we thought they would do. It wasn't long before we lost sight
of the wagons, but most of us knew the way and continued back to camp. Everyone made it
into camp about the same time, and it wasn't long before we were ready for dinner. Once
again Stacey had prepared one of our favorite foods, chicken! There was chicken and
dumplings, chicken & rice, green beans, slaw and way too many deserts. A stuffed bunch of
people didn't last long around the campfire this evening.
Sunday morning, there was a smaller group of riders that headed out for an "I don't want to go
home" ride of about 3 hours, then as always we said our goodbyes and planned on meeting at
the next ride.
Our thanks go to Marty and Stacey Sims for hosting this ride
and to Stacey for the delicious dinner.
See Ya on the trail, riding with Leon,
